The agreement signed recently between vLex and the LLMC group will allow the incorporation of more than 780,000 legal documents from different countries around the world to the vLex database. Among them, exclusive documents such as the Irak legislation which is not available by any other publisher.
LLMC is a non-profit consortium of law libraries that seeks to disseminate access to legal documents from around the world. The consortium is comprised of for example the George Washington University law library, University of St. right. Louis law library and the archive of the state of Hawaii.
The collection includes books that have been damaged, digitized or passed to microfilm format. Thus, they are very exclusive content provided to vLex to be made globally accessible, which marks a step forward towards the democratization of legal documents.
According to Kathleen Richman, LLMC Executive Director, "vLex responds perfectly to our expectations as the company integrates the content by respecting the initial format of the document such as index or footnotes; but also by providing an added value (relating the content with other documents, facilitating the search or using translations tools). Our main goals are preserving and spreading those contents and vLex is therefore the most indicated partner as it is growing internationally in a very quick way in terms of content and customers".
This agreement shows the willingness of vLex to support the public domain by providing the maximum possible dissemination of information.
