How do I create my personal ontology in vLex?

In vLex we've developed our search algorithms and our thesaurus to facilitate fast consultation of information. Still, we think that you are the one better to know what information you actually need and how you want it to be sortred. For that reason, you are given the options to create your own classification system in order to decide what categories are included in your search and what to call them.

What are tags?

Tags are words that you assign to a document to classify it. You are decider on which words you choose to tag with, allowing you to better identify the content of a document. You are not tied to any prechosen classifications that may not sufficiently benefit your specific needs.

You have total flexibility to create these labels. This means you can use simple words, compunds, names of people, abbreviations, etc. You are the one who decides.

How many tags can I use?

There is no limit. Go ahead, create as many tags as you need.

How do I add documents to the tags created?

In every document you find a button 'Tag this'. You can click and create a tag for the chosen document. There will also be a suggested list of previous tags if you want to reuse the same label.

What do I write in the 'Commentary' field?

You can use this field to write what you want. Some examples:

  • Document Summary
  • Thoughts around this document
  • Copy parts of the document that you think are relevant.

You can also allow other users on vLex to read your commentaries. We highly value this feedback as your opinion and comments can only help us offer the best service.

Can other users see my tags?

Yes, if you want. When you add tags to a paticular document you can choose if the these tags are open to the public.

If you prefer, you can keep these tags private. This keeps anyone from viewing your chosen tags.

Can I erase my tags?

Yes, but remember if you erase a tag, related documents will disappear.
