Of course, how much air your vehicle moves through its engine isn't the sole deciding factor when it comes to mpg. How hard your motor works also has a big effect on what kind of mileage your vehicle gets, and the most basic kind of work is moving all the vehicle's components down the road. To that end, a vehicle's weight plays a key role in how much it drinks. The more a vehicle weighs, the harder it will have to work get going and stay moving down the road. The pint-sized Yaris barely moves...

Recently, the author had the opportunity to talk to a group of manufacturing executives about flexibility. There are three primary elements of flexibility. First, it is an organization's ability to adapt to changes in the marketplace without: creating unintended consequences in demand, 2. overexposure of a company, its assets, resources, and supply chain, and 3. placing increased pressure on the supply chain. Secondly, flexibility is leveraging knowledge of demand changes at the earliest poss...

GMs contender is the two-door CTS, which adopts nearly all the good stuff from the acclaimed CTS sedan: a direct-injection 3.6-liter V6 with 304 horsepower, edge-of-seat handling and Lexus-like interior refinement. Since some luxury buyers still care more about rpm than mpg, a forthcoming CTS-V version will strike fear into Benzes and BMWs with its 556-horsepower supercharged V8.

DETROIT-When I was in a parking lot getting into my test car, a woman walked up to get in her car and said, "I like this car" then she asked "what is it?" I said "it's an Audi" and she adiniringly said, "I should have known."
One of the few things I don't like about Audi is the awfully long nomenclatures for its models. In this instance the A4 Avant is Audi-speak for station wagon. The A4 itself is the model and it used to be Audi's entry level offering but since the A3 came online the A4 has...

Even if the look of the "big body" sports sedan doesn't sell you on the S8, stepping inside will. The interior has all the comfort and convenience feature's we've come to love about Audis with a lot of space to enjoy it all.
Of course, you don't get a sense of the real beauty of the S8 .until you hit the gas. Big body luxury never felt so good. The SB's 5.2-liter V10 kicks out 450 horsepower and 398 fMbs. of torque with a 0 - 60 time of 4.9 seconds.
Options include radar-controlled adaptive c...

A funny thing about APQP -- that's advanced product quality planning -- if there can be anything amusing about the always-serious subject of quality, is found in the description of the book on the subject that is found on the Auto Industry Action Groups Web site (aiag.org). APQP methodology is a result of work that was done during the 1980s by General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler. It is an approach that facilitates registration to ISO/TS 16949. From a macro point of view, APQP and its associate...
