An analysis of what it is like being a government employee is presented. The demands of the job at the federal, state and local levels are addressed as well as the public perception of government workers. Most see agencies as bureaucratic places filled with paperwork and red tape. A history is provided on the workers in this field and ways the general public benefit from their hard work.
The gay and lesbian community is grateful for the fact that they have been welcomed and properly recognized as a part of the 2000 presidential nomination process. The change clearly reflects that politics gives way for cultural self-expression.
If we're going to attract the many more good people that are needed in government, we need to do a much better job of explaining why public service can be a great career.
