She remarks that narratives of second pattern warns against locking oneself into easy judgments and self-righteous blamings. Falling into it leads one guilty on two counts: first, of blaspheming against suprahuman domains that have barely began to comprehend, and second, without diminishing the crimes of the murdering mothers, of lacking a suprahuman capacity for spiritual grace.

The peak of the curve lies somewhere in-between. Where? It varies over time, but monitoring tax receipts and how they respond to changes in the tax rate can help tell us which side of the curve we're on. And President Bush's 2003 tax cuts do just that.
