Now, the EDA is helping foster development of more stores by offering incentives through the New Jersey Food Access Initiative, a public-private partnership with The Reinvestment Fund. The EDA has committed $3 million to the effort, plus $1 million for a pilot supermarket program in Newark. The authority also has promised to make money from other EDA resources available to eligible projects, to leverage its direct investment in the Food Access Initiative.
