Charleston's Municipal Auditorium hosted one monster of a good rock show Wednesday night when it welcomed 3 Doors Down, Tantric and Shinedown to town. It was a wall-knockin', eardrum-rockin' experience.

The show started out strong with a six-song set by the surprise of the evening, Shinedown. They are so much more than just a warm- up band. They had plenty of power and punch, with their kick drum leaving happy little bruises on my chest and their bass parting what's left of my rapidly graying hair. The drummer and bassist were joined by a talented guitarist and a singer that took all of the vocal duties onto his broad shoulders. His efforts mostly succeeded with the help of a heavily cranked echo knob.
