What is visitation?

ALABAMA The court's award of visitation rights is guided by what is in the best interest of the child. Alabama Code 30-3-1. A court may award visitation by a parent who has committed domestic or family violence only if the court finds that adequate provision for the safety of the child and the other parent can be made. The prevailing party in an action commenced under this law is entitled to recover a reasonable attorney fee. "Just excuse" includes illness of the child which makes it dangerous to the health of the child for visitation to take place. "Just excuse" does not include the wish of the child not to have visitation with the person entitled to visitation. AS 25.20.140.
