Thanks to the hard work of Joe Edwards, his staff and volunteers, downtown Augusta's National Science Center at Fort Discovery is getting back on its feet, having extended its hours since Labor Day.

Edwards, the center's CEO, credits the generosity of area donors for allowing the center to return to a more regular schedule - and to hire back about two-thirds of the 40 laid-off, but dedicated, employees.
