An assessment of aquatic weeds in the Savannah River near downtown Augusta has identified at least four unwanted species - two that are native to South America.

Judy Gordon, a botanist and chairwoman of the Sierra Club's Savannah River Group, collected and analyzed samples of various weeds that have generated complaints to Augusta Commission members.
