"White Noise" has its jolting moments. In fact, the young lady sitting next to me jumped eight times during the screening of the film. But in all fairness, she seemed to already be a nervous wreck. There were a group of rabble-rousers sitting behind me. They were quiet for much of the film, except when they chose to question its merits aloud: "Yo, what kinda film is this?" or "This movie's scary," or the question that summed up [Jonathan Rivers]' obsession with listening to his wife's voice on EVP, "Damn, he's a feen." Of course, there's the requisite absurd scene where everyone seemed to be asking, "Why is he doing this at night?" The answer: "Duh, it's a scary movie. And white folks do stupid things in scary movies."
