The Historical Society of the Courts will present a program titled "Frontier Justice: Western New York Blazes a Trail on the Underground Railroad and Down the Erie Canal" from 2 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 4 at The Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society, 25 Nottingham Court, Buffalo.

New York State Court of Appeals Judge Albert M. Rosenblatt will open the program, which is divided into two sections. Columbia Law School Professor John Fabian Witt will speak on "The Erie Canal and the Transformation of American Law." Albany Law School Professor Paul Finkelman will speak on "Slavery, Freedom and the New York Courts."
