A bipartisan group of lawmakers has unveiled patent reform legislation in both the House and Senate aimed at protecting the quality of patents and stemming costly litigation.

The lawmakers have won support for the proposed new rules from the Coalition for Patent Fairness - a group representing business leaders in the business, financial services, technology, energy, manufacturing and media sectors. The Coalition expressed its support for the Patent Reform Act of 2007 and praised the work of the new bill's sponsors: Sens. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., and Orrin Hatch, R- Utah, and Reps. Howard Berman, D-Calif., and Lamar Smith, R-Texas.
