Fewer rigs have been producing oil and natural gas in Louisiana ever since 2002 yet Texas and other energy-producing states are putting more rigs to work.
In 2000, the United States averaged 918 active rigs, a tally that rose roughly 80 percent to 1,649 in 2007, according to Houston- based Baker Hughes Inc.Economic Activity Associated with Drilling Down in Louisiana
