Daniel Moeckli, lecturer in law and a fellow of the Human Rights Law Center at the University of Nottingham, must be commended for Human Rights and Non-discrimination in the 'War on Terror,' an insightful and pithy volume that sheds light on how human rights law interacts with the global international terrorism regime. The book is based on the author's doctoral thesis and builds upon some of his previously published work. (1) Moeckli has produced a coherent, cogently argued volume that is well supported by primary legal source material and related commentary. The book focuses on how three liberal democracies--the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany--have, on the dual basis of national security concerns and the imperative of adequately protecting the liberty of their citizens, instituted antiterrorism laws and enforcement practices that have violated the human right of certain individuals and communities to be free of discrimi...
