Is there such a thing as artistic testosterone? It sounds like a throwback to the chain-smoking, sweat-soaked T-shirt days of Abstract Expressionism or maybe the heyday of Mannerism in 16th- century Europe, when young punk painters with a lot of swagger displayed their virtuosity with images of beautiful figures in all kinds of contorted positions.
