In all of my speaking engagements, columns and general discussions, I always say "we" or "us," never "you," "them" or "they." That is the reason the caption reads "all of us." This column is not a put down of anyone, just a public observation that needs to be highlighted.

We often boast about how we can say whatever is on our mind, speak our piece, or say "no one can tell me what to say," "I am my own man or woman," or "I am compelled to stand on principle." All of those statements sound good, but are not true.
