PORTLAND A federal appeals court Friday ruled in favor of a woman ordered deported from Oregon to South Africa after her husband of 11 months was killed in a car crash.

The ruling by the 9th U.S Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco did not rule that Carla Freeman, a dual citizen of South Africa and Italy, could remain in the United States but said she could keep her status as a spouse who could apply for the right to do so.
