Four shows into the Darien Performing Arts Center's summer concert season, and the rain has been the uninvited guest during three of them. If the law of averages is anything more than an elaborate ruse, then the rest of the season should find ample sunshine and skies of indigo keeping concert attendees company. But who knows? And after all, to quote Tom Waits, who should know, "A little rain never hurt no one."

Nor did the foul weather appear to dampen the spirits of the assembled, who apparently love their middle-of-the-road alt-rock enough to weather the storm. Only half of the lawn was full Wednesday, which is still better than one would've expected, under the circumstances. But man, that several hundred Fray and Jack's Mannequin fans made an awful lotta noise, almost as much as the din offered up by the folks assembled beneath tent.
