Icy roads persisted like a bad hangover on Monday.
The region seemed to have emerged from its snowy New Year's bender, and then temperatures dipped below freezing Sunday night. Moisture from melting snow refroze into black ice, launching a series of accidents and slipping up the morning commute.Black Ice Greets Commuters
On Sunday and Monday, the Washington State Patrol responded to 87 collisions on state highways in Clark County, Trooper Mike Kesler said.
