FORT LEE - More than 50 Main Street businesses are expected to reopen this morning, a day after an underground transformer explosion triggered a dangerous carbon monoxide leak, forcing their evacuation, authorities said.
The explosion was reported around 3:40 p.m. by employees of the Main Street post office. Fire officials said carbon monoxide, released by the fire, seeped into some businesses through electrical conduits.Blast Shuts Stores ; Fort Lee to Get Back to Business After Carbon Monoxide Scare
