BREWER - The tax rate in Brewer is going down, even with increases to the city, school and county budgets, because of increased state education funding, drops in tax breaks for businesses, a reduction in overlay and additional new construction value, according to city officials.
"We're really thrilled that residents are going to see a decrease in their tax bills despite numerous pressures we're facing this year," said Finance Director Karen Fussell Thursday. "We think it's a solid budget and it reflects the ongoing growth of the city."Brewer Budget Lowers Tax Rate
