If County Commissioner Douglas Bruce had a hammer, he'd hammer in the morning, he'd hammer in the evening -- for as long as it took to blast his name from a plaque that will be installed on the nearly completed courthouse expansion.

"I do not want to be associated with this infamous and pernicious project," he said at Thursday's commission meeting. Bruce is adamant that he not be listed as one of the commissioners who dedicated a $45.7 million courthouse he considers unneeded and illegal. The budget includes a parking garage and utility plant.
