Commissioners approved a lease allowing the YMCA to operate out of the county's senior center by offering free activities for seniors instead of paying rent. Under the lease, the YMCA also will pay part of the center's utility bill and will operate family and wellness activities in the evenings.

"We're filling a need for them and for us," said Bill Rush, executive director for the Y's North Georgia branch.

Mr. [Mike Helton] said the arrangement was not unusual, but after the meeting Commissioner Dewayne Hill called it "new ground."

"We're just trying to help the seniors," Mr. [Bobby Winters] said.
