Changes In The Subsoil Licensing In Uzbekistan

In accordance with Presidential Decree dated 17.01.2018, "On Measures for the Stable Provision of the Economy of the Country with the Required Types of Products and Raw Materials," the procedure for issuing licenses for subsoil use, containing nonmetallic mineral resources, has been changed.

Licensing body. Now, the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Geology and Mineral Resources is responsible for issuing licenses. Previously this license was issued by a special commission of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Processing term. Previously licenses were issued based on the results of public tenders which took more than one month. Now, the period for considering an application for a license has been reduced to 20 days.

Capital requirements. The applicant's registered capital should be at least 500 minimum monthly wages applicable on the date of application (approximately US$10,571 as of January 19, 2018).

Further details to be published. The Government instructed the State Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources to develop the new procedure for licensing within one month. We will update you as further details become available.
