WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS - When West Virginia's workers' compensation insurance market opens to competition next July, employers are likely to see a number of companies offer high- deductible plans and some will probably offer package deals that allow employers to buy all of their liability insurance from a single carrier, state Insurance Commissioner Jane Cline predicted.
Cline was one of the speakers at a workshop that looked at the past and future of workers' comp insurance in West Virginia. Cline said workers' comp premiums have declined an aggregate of 27 percent since West Virginia transitioned on Jan. 1, 2006, from a state-run monopoly to a privately owned company, BrickStreet Mutual Insurance Co.
