[Jehane Noujaim] introduces us to the producers and reporters of Al Jazeera, who seem as professional, cynical and "Western" as CNN's news crew. Senior producer Samir Khader chain-smokes and proclaims his network's role in a pleasantly world-weary manner: "Al Jazeera's message is to wake up the Arab world to free debate and to educate them about democracy." Khader dreams about sending his children to the U.S. to study, and wants to relocate here permanently, he says, "to exchange the Arab nightmare for the American dream."
