The International Brotherhood of Police Officers has asked the town of Whitman to look into allegations that police Chief John R. Schnyer may have fathered two children when their mother was a teenager.

"The IBPO sent the selectmen a letter last month asking them to determine once and for all whether the chief has anything to do with these children," said a source familiar with the union request.
