ANAHEIM, Calif. - As one of the game's most reliable starting pitchers for more than a decade, Curt Schilling emphasizes the pride he takes in being able to take the ball and start every fifth day.

Schilling led the National League in starts three times and in complete games four times, and there was no need to think he would be any different in Boston. As this season unfolded, however, Schilling and the Red Sox came to realize there is no dishonor in getting an extra day of rest here and there.
