There's not a whole lot [Keith Johnson] can do to repair the shortcomings of some of our board members or of our current central administration, but there's plenty he can do about improving working conditions in the schools and classrooms - and plenty needs to be done. Johnson will do it - but as he has said to his constituency, as President [Barack Obama] has also said to his, the strength of Keith's leadership doesn't begin or end with the strength of his leadership team. Johnson is also going to be calling upon the DFT rank-and-file to mobilize to restore vitality and to achieve their goals on behalf of the children.

Teachers who are ably championed by their union leadership are enabled to really teach, and good, effective teaching will markedly reduce the youth violence in this town, not to mention the illiteracy rate.
