MORGANTOWN - Arriving at the Puskar Center only minutes before his teammates stepped onto Mountaineer Field for another exhausting summer workout Thursday afternoon, West Virginia fullback Owen Schmitt hurried through the lobby, down the stairs and into the locker room.

Schmitt didn't want to miss a minute of conditioning - and, frankly, he and his fellow running backs can't afford to do so considering the depleted depth at that important position.
