Vancouver jeweler Steve Runyan first met author Patrick McManus more than 20 years ago on a sandy beach in Mexico.
"My wife had wanted to go to Mexico on vacation and I finally said I'd go," said Runyan, who is now retired. "We went to the beach and sat down and she handed this book to me and said, 'Read it.'
