As for our suburban neighbors, we are well aware that [Kwame Kilpatrick] was not the overwhelming favorite out there. Whereas [Freman Hendrix] was reportedly seen as the candidate most likely to repair urban/suburban relations, Kilpatrick was said to be the candidate most likely to set the bridge on fire with gasoline. Admittedly his comments about drugged out suburban kids outnumbering drugged out Detroit kids didn't help things much, and there have been other less-than-thoughtful comments as well, but the suburbs haven't exactly been expressing warm and fuzzy comments about Detroit over the years either. Honesty insists that we all accept the appropriate amount of responsibility for the breach and admit that for years this has been a one-way street with two lanes of cars headed straight for each other full throttle.
Get It Together or Get Out of the Way
It would be nice if there was a lot more time for the wounds to heal, but that is time we simply do not have, Detroit. The battlefield injuries sustaine...
