"They are a great company doing great things in urban communities. They are making a difference in a positive way," he said. "Their second in command, COO Mark Goodman, is an African-American who sits on the Urban League board. They also have several Black (store) owners."

"We serve the underserved," he said. "Our customers have median household incomes of $35,000 per year or less, 55 percent live on fixed incomes, 55 percent receive some kind of government assistance and 34 percent have households with children."

"One thing we've learned is you can't be an expert in the other guy's town," said [Rick Meyer]. "We'll work with the community to find the location that works. We're prepared to move forward. I can't wait to open a store in the [Hill]."
