In her column, Ann McFeatters is correct that Hillary Clinton "stumbled" in the last debate when she waffled over the issue of giving drivers' licenses to undocumented workers. And the fact that she is the sitting senator from the state that almost went through with this madness makes it even worse.

Despite the uproar from Republicans over Clinton's accusation that President [George Bush] has made the illegal alien problem worse, she does have a valid point. From 1995 to 1997, during her husband's term, there were about 10,000 to 18,000 work-site arrests of illegals annually. In those same years, around 1,000 employers were fined. Not much, I'll grant you.

Under Bush, close to 6 million illegals have entered, including an estimated 375,000 alien felons. If the Democrats can't take back the issue of homeland security, then they don't deserve to govern.
