LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The field at the Kentucky Derby was expected to be the largest in 20 years, but it was reduced by two to 18 yesterday with the defections of Wimbledon and St Averil from today's 130th edition of the Run for the Roses.
Trainer Bob Baffert scratched Wimbledon after a small, dime- sized knot was discovered on the outside of the colt's left front leg after his bandages were removed yesterday morning.
