A Charleston man was indicted Tuesday by a federal grand jury on charges that he failed to update his registration as a sex offender, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Marvin L. Smith, 47, was convicted of three counts of second- degree sexual assault in Kanawha Circuit Court in 1995, the release states. Smith allegedly failed to keep his registration current when he lived in Illinois and Florida in 2006.
