Summary


Jen Toomey went from a local club runner to a national champion after discovering that going all out applies to training as well as racing.

The Salem resident and 1994 Tufts graduate reaped the benefits of both by winning the women's 800-meter run in a time of 2 minutes, 0.2 seconds during yesterday's USA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center. Toomey led a team Nike sweep of the event ahead of Hazel Clark (2:01.60) and defending champion Nicole Teter (2:03.05).
