Interview with Kevin Dunn: leading through balance, integrity, and putting 'people first'.
Kevin Dunn is Founder and President of Dunn Enterprises, a high-impact company that works with Senior Executives and CEOs to clarify and make actionable the future they envision for their organizations. Kevin is currently working with CEOs in the retail sector to help them develop a clear roadmap and recruit a dynamic team to execute a business plan to significantly and profitably grow their business. He has taken a small equity position in some of these companies.
Prior to establishing his own company, Kevin was President of McDonald's Great Lakes Division, responsible for 2,500 of the fast-food chain's restaurants. He led the company in the development of new concepts in restaurant design, market optimization, in-store merchandising, operations simplification, and people development, all of which contributed to increased restaurant cash flow for three consecutive years. He also revived the McDonald's All-American Crew Competition, a yearlong challenge that tests the operations knowledge and skills of restaurant crew teams, to identify, and honor, the top-performing individual for each restaurant position. Kevin was himself a McDonald's All-American, winning the coveted title of "best french fry person," during the early days of his career. Kevin began his McDonald's career as a restaurant crew person, working for Jim Delligatti, who invented the Big Mac. When he completed his career with the "Golden Arches," he headed a Division that encompassed 525 franchisees, 2,500 restaurants serving a combined total of 2.8 million customers every day, 130,000 staff and restaurant employees, and $4 billion in sales. A charismatic and energetic leader, Kevin has built a distinguished record of achieving business results through people, while maintaining high integrity and strong values. He currently serves on several civic and corporate Boards of Directors in the Chicago area, and leads a number of projects for national not-for-profit organizations, helping achieve their mission and have an impact in the community.
