Hospital Kitchens Exempted From Bioterrorism Regs on Food Industry

Recently released proposed regulations address the registration of facilities that manufacture, process, pack, or hold food for human consumption in the United States. These proposed rules were promulgated under the Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002. Under the current proposal, "restaurants" would be exempted from the rules, which define that term to include "cafeterias, lunchrooms, . . . hospital kitchens, . . . and nursing home kitchens."
