Fountains of Wayne -- a store where Tony Soprano shopped, and that lent its name to a rock band -- closed its doors to shoppers Friday and appeared to be preparing to go out of business.

Don Winters, whose family has owned and operated the store for more than 40 years, would not comment on reports that shoppers were told Thursday by employees that the lawn ornaments and outdoor furniture retailer would close after a clearance sale.
