Hugo Castro is always focused on the tasks at hand, and they are many in his position as an executive vice president of the South/Central Division, and co-branch manager of AXA Advisors' South Florida branch. Castro entered the insurance business as an agent with AXA in 1992. He has helped oversee the 250 financial professionals in the South Florida branch since 2002. While Castro earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in business, the financial services industry was not his initial calling. In 1991, he was working in mortgage lending, when he was introduced to Marshall Wolper, a well-known figure in the insurance industry in Miami. After Castro helped him with the refinancing of his home, Wolper mentioned that he felt Hugo would do well in financial services, and set up an interview for him at what was then Equitable Life. The success of the South Florida branch, under Castro's leadership, is evident in the production numbers, and awards earned.
