Durante los últimos diez años la situación en lo que respecta a los derechos sociales y

laborales de los migrantes y los inmigrantes en los Estados Unidos (incluyendo a millones de

personas de los países de América Latina) ha sido mala. Los miedos de los ciudadanos de los

Estados Unidos sobre el terrorismo extranjero después del ataque del 11 de septiembre de

2001 son una parte de la explicación de esta situación.Durante los años de la administración

del Presidente George Bush, las programasoficial de empleo para trabajadores invitados

temporales con mínimos derechos y protecciones jurídicas se habían ampliado enormemente.

The Struggle for Labor and Social Rights for Migrants and Immigrants in the United

States

During the last ten years the situation as to the social and labor rights of the migrants and the

immigrants in the United States (including million persons of the countries of Latin America)

has been bad. The fears of the citizens of the United States about foreign terrorism after the

attack of September 11, 2001 are a part of the explanation of this situation. During the years of

the administration of the President George Bush, the official programs for employmentof

temporary guest workers with minimal legal rights and judicial protections had been extended

enormously. The economic and employment crisis of the last several years have increased the

fear of the citizens of the United States that the foreign workersendanger employment

opportunities for the citizens of the United States. State and local governments in the United

States have approved laws that regulate the immigration and the immigrants with increasing

frequency. State governments in the United States have adopted laws intended to reduce the

numbers of citizens of the United States who were born in other countries to vote in elections

in the United States. Which has the response been by defenders of the rights of the

immigrants and migrants to these actions?
