Luxembourg Maritime Registry Recognised By The Paris MoU

On the occasion of its 47th meeting, the Paris MoU (Paris Memorandum of Understanding) Committee approved the 2013 inspection results and adopted new performance lists for flags and recognised organisations.

Consisting in 27 participating maritime administrations, the Paris MoU annually inspects more than 18.000 board foreign ships calling at ports in the coverage area of the memorandum. Main objectives of these inspections are to ensure that ships meet international safety, security and environmental standards, and that crew members have adequate living and working conditions.

White, Grey and Black lists are then established to present the full spectrum, from quality flags to flags with a poor performance that are considered high or very high risk. These results are based on the total number of inspections and detentions over a 3-year rolling period for flags with at least 30 inspections in the period.
