According to the Executive Leadership Counsel, a non-profit support network and public leadership forum for African-American executives, there are 225 African-Americans who serve on Fortune 500 boards. Men hold approximately 6.2% of the 5,572 Fortune 500 board directorships and 1.9% are held by women. Two-thirds of all Fortune 500 companies have at least one African-American board member and one-third have no African-American.
