Denzil B. Adkins, 90, of Alkol died Jan. 3, 2009. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Koontz Funeral Home, Hamlin. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Adkins-White Cemetery, Alkol.

Austin Albert Anderson III

Mr. Austin Albert "Sam" Anderson III, 53, of St. Albans died Tuesday, December 30, 2008, after a hit-and-run accident.

Sam is survived by children, Amanda and husband, Doug Walker, of St. Albans and Michelle and husband, David Hodgson, of Columbus, Ohio; brothers, George and wife, Rachel Anderson, of South Charleston and Anthony and wife, Debbie Anderson, of Campbells Creek; sisters, Connie and husband, Ferlin Maynard, of Marmet and Sharon Gibson of Marmet; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special niece, Kaitlin Johnson, who never stopped praying for him.

A tribute to the life of Sam will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, at Harding Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dan McCormick officiating. Private burial will be in Marmet Cemetery.

Phillip W. Armstrong

Phillip W. Armstrong, 56, of Hernshaw went home to be with the Lord on January 4, 2009, at home while surrounded by loved ones.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Marie Armstrong; father, Paul Armstrong Sr.; and brother, Paul Jr.

Surviving are his wife, Sue Armstrong of Hernshaw; sons, Phillip Jr. and family of Hurricane, Michael and family of Hurricane, Jamie and family of Handley, Paul of Hernshaw and Matt and Family of Hernshaw; daughters, Shasta Armstrong and family of Emmons and Ashley Armstrong and family of North Carolina; mother, Nellie Armstrong of Hernshaw; sisters, Judy Deal and Martha Arden of Hernshaw; brothers, James of Winifrede and Roger of St. Albans; nine grandchildren; and many friends and loved ones.
