Charles Adkins, 73, of Hamlin died May 3, 2009. Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 7, at Handley Funeral Home, Hamlin. Friends may call one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Adkins Cemetery, Hamlin.
Robert Otis AlexanderRobert "Bob" Otis Alexander, born April 4, 1923, in New-ark Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 4, 2009.Bob attended Charleston High School, leaving early to enlist in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He spent several years overseas and was honorably discharged in 1945. Bob worked as a journeyman electrician in Ohio and West Virginia and was a member of the IBEW, retiring in 1988.Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and friends over a good meal. He also enjoyed his retirement in Florida, annually working the Daytona 500. Bob was a member of the Shriners and Masons.He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde L. and Mabel Beaver Alexander; wife, Irene Kuhn Alexander; daughter, Virginia Lee Alexander Brawley and husband, Gary; sister, Francis E. Shropshire; and second wife, Lorraine Maddox Alexander.He is survived by brothers, Richard W. Alexander and wife, Mary Kay, of Marrero La., and Fredrick A. Alexander and wife, Karen, of Huntington; granddaughter, Michelle Lee Brawley Worrell, husband, David, and great-grandsons, Alexander Lee and Dylan Lane, of Scott Depot; grandson, Sean D. Brawley, wife, Leigh, and great- granddaughters, Breanna and Alyssa, of Charleston; and numerous nieces and nephews.Bob donated his body to the Marshall University School of Medicine. His remains will be placed in Sunset Memorial Park.A celebration of his life will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at New Hope Bapt...Try vLex for FREE for 3 days
