Tell me about the "new" treated lumber. I was not aware there had been a change until I went looking for some of those aluminum bases that you put under a post. A salesman told me the new treatment was incompatible with aluminum so bases are now being made from plastic.
Then I realized the tags on the ends of the treated lumber say "Not for ground contact." So what does one use for ground contact? What can one expect to happen if you have used standard steel fasteners on the new wood? How are galvanized nails or screws affected? Why the change?On the Level: New Treatment for Lumber Costly
