Summary:

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- Driven by concerns about a looming statewide nursing shortage, a consortium of Oregon colleges is re-examining the rules for getting a nursing degree in the state.

The goal is to make it easier for students to apply to nursing programs, by creating a common set of admission standards and prerequisite courses. Participating colleges -- including eight community colleges and four Oregon Health & Science University nursing schools would also offer a standard nursing curriculum.
