(NewsUSA) - As many as 6 million Americans might not realize that their arteries are narrowing and hardening, increasing their risk for heart disease and stroke. This condition, known as Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD), is as important to diagnose as heart disease -; but many patients do not experience obvious symptoms. In PAD, fatty deposits build up in arteries, reducing blood flow to the legs. Patients with PAD increase their risk for heart attack or stroke by two to six times. And according to the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA), one in every five people over age 70 has the disease.
